Annual brief overview
Fiscal 2012 Status of Demonstration Test
In fiscal 2012, until July, maintenance and inspection works were conducted while changing some part of heat transfer pipe structure in SGC to study the potential for reducing the required space for SGC in commercial plant. Then, IGCC plant started operation and conducted coal type change test along with confirmation of the effect on the clogging in SGC by the structure change above mentioned and other countermeasures.
[Coal type change test (RUN-15)]
- <Test Objectives>
- ・Another types of sub-bituminous coal with different characteristics from the designed and previously tested coals are to be tested.
- ・Study on the effects of the structure change in the heat transfer pipe system in SGC to the clogging issue.
- <Test Results>
- ・Sub-bituminous coal from United States was successfully tested.
- ・100% content with the output of 150 MW and 33% content with nearly full output were confirmed.
- ・Regarding the clogging of heat transfer pipe system in SGC, the performance on the structure change in the transfer heat pipe system along with revised interval of sooth clearing system operation was analyzed and effectiveness of the measures was confirmed.
[Coal type change test (RUN-16)]
- <Test Objectives>
- ・Another type of bituminous coal with different characteristics from the designed and previously tested coals are to be tested.
- ・Study on the effects of the structure change in the heat transfer pipe system in SGC to the clogging issue.
- <Test Results>
- ・Bituminous coal from Canada was successfully tested.
- ・100% content with the output of 190 MW and 67% content with output of 205 MW were confirmed.
- ・Regarding the clogging of heat transfer pipe system in SGC, the performance on the structure change in the transfer heat pipe system along with revised interval of sooth clearing system operation as was done in Run 15 was analyzed and effectiveness of the measures was confirmed.
